State Tax Credit Program Benefits Foundation
Keep Your Tax Dollars in Mt. Lebanon through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program
Through the EITC program, businesses can receive significant tax credits for supporting their local schools! If you are a partner in a general or limited partnership or a shareholder in an S Corporation you may be eligible for tax credits that can be used against your PA Personal Income Tax. Businesses (C Corporations) that pay Corporate Net Income Tax, Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax or other approved state taxes may also be eligible credits against these PA taxes.
EITC is a win-win program and it’s easy for businesses to participate. All you have to do is complete a one-page application and make a donation to the Mt. Lebanon Foundation for Education (MLFE). Your business receives a generous tax break and MLFE will use your gift to provide extraordinary learning opportunities for our students.
Since 1999, MFE has supported over 90 different educational projects for students. These projects span the entire curriculum, impact all 10 MTL schools and enhance the educational experience of every student. Projects include:
- 8th grade Physics students design and build windmills and solar cars and study real roller coasters to learn about motion and energy.
- Orchestra students study in small groups with professional musicians.
- A catering business for Life Skills students helps them gain real world training and experiences.
- The Guest Lecturer program brings scientists, artists, award winning authors and other experts into classrooms to share their expertise with our students.
- Distance learning enables all students to participate in classes around the globe.
- New technology for all grade levels and in all subjects keeps education in Mt. Lebanon on the cutting edge.
The only catch is that your application must be submitted on July 1. Last year $22 million was available in tax credits and all were awarded on the first day.
